1 dead, 1 missing in Central China worksite incident
CHANGSHA -- One construction worker was confirmed dead and another remains missing after being trapped during underground operations at a road worksite in Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan province, on Sunday afternoon, local authorities said on Monday.
Four construction workers were trapped in an underground shaft while conducting pipeline inspection work at a building site on Xinchang Road in Tianxin district of Changsha at approximately 4:50 pm Sunday, according to the emergency management bureau of the district.
Three workers have been rescued and hospitalized following emergency response efforts. Among them, two remain in stable condition while one succumbed to injuries. One individual is still unaccounted for as search operations continue at full capacity.
Emergency responses, including on-site rescue operations, medical treatment of the injured, aftermath handling of the incident, and cause investigations, are all underway.
