After Chongqing recently issued its first red alert for high temperatures of the year, Chongqing Meixin Group, a locally based door manufacturer, organized a joyful watermelon-eating contest to bring a refreshing twist to the day for its employees.

On Tuesday, Meixin's frontline workers gathered around a large table adorned with freshly sliced, juicy watermelons. After a countdown, the contest erupted into a flurry of munching and laughter.

On the same day, Chongqing's disease prevention and control center and meteorological bureau issued a joint warning about the imminent health risks posed by high temperatures across the city.

According to Mou Xiaohong from Meixin, to promote well-being among the company's workforce under the scorching heat, the company also provides cold snacks, beverages, and heatstroke prevention medications. Several cooling stations have been set up around the workshops, equipped with air conditioning and fans.
