The Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2025 has convened in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Erik Solheim, co-chair of the EU-Asia Centre, and Beate Trankmann, UNDP resident representative for China, attended the forum and engaged with the official Guizhou account (@iloveguizhou) on the social media platform X, applauding Guizhou and China's environmental achievements.

As a vital environmental shield for the upper reaches of the Yangtze and Pearl rivers, Guizhou champions high-quality development through ecological civilization.

In 2024, the provincial GDP reached 2.27 trillion yuan ($316.5 billion), with the green economy accounting for 48.8 percent of the total, according to the official figures.

The forest coverage rate surged from 50 percent in 2015 to 63.3 percent in 2024. The annual proportion of days with "fairly good" air quality in Guizhou's eight major cities reached 99.1 percent.

The water quality of all major rivers as they exit the province has remained 100 percent "excellent".
