Transport volume tops 250,000 TEUs
In the first half of this year, the volume of sea-rail intermodal container transport at Beibu Gulf Port in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region surpassed 250,000 twenty-foot equivalent units, reaching the halfway mark of its annual target, the port operator said. By the end of May, the port had opened 84 container shipping routes, including 52 international routes.
Yuan strengthens against greenback
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 23 pips to 7.1523 against the US dollar on Thursday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.
