Shanghai AI company launches open-source model

Shanghai-based AI company MiniMax recently launched its large-scale open-source reasoning model MiniMax-M1, claiming performance on par with top players with competitive cost efficiency.
MiniMax-M1 boasts the world's first open-source, large-scale, hybrid-attention reasoning model, outperforming all Chinese closed-source models and reaching the level of leading international models in dealing with complicated and productivity-oriented tasks. The model also offers the industry's best cost-effectiveness, according to the Shanghai-based firm.
The model also demonstrates advantages in complex, productivity-oriented scenarios such as software engineering, long context and tool use, the company added.
MiniMax then launched a series of products, including the video generation model MiniMax Hailuo 02 introduced on June 18, and the general intelligent agent MiniMax Agent on June 19.
