Guangdong promotes cooperation with ASEAN at Guangzhou conference

Guangdong province is expecting to further deepen cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to export more high-quality products to the southern Chinese province, senior Guangdong officials said at a conference on Tuesday.
Guangdong has a large economic volume and huge market potential as an economic powerhouse of China and a global production hub. It has the foundation and conditions to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN, which is the closest region for China's maritime trade, officials said, adding that the province provides vast marketing, investment, and cooperation opportunities to foreign business representatives.
Officials made the remarks during the 2025 China (Guangdong)- ASEAN Trade Promotion and Supply Chain Cooperation Mechanism Development Coordination and Exchange Conference in Guangzhou, the Guangdong provincial capital.
With the capital and technology advantages of Guangdong and the resources and location advantages of ASEAN, the expansion of cooperation will be a win-win deal, officials said.
ASEAN has been the biggest trade partner of the province since 2000, they said.
The conference, which is expected to play a role in further expanding ties and cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN, has attracted approximately 600 Sino-foreign government officials, entrepreneurs, business executives, consuls, heads of international organizations and business institutions, representatives from overseas Chinese and business communities, experts, and scholars.
In addition to keynote speeches, the event includes parallel conferences and thematic dialogues on key topics such as the construction of cooperation mechanisms, supply chain coordination, trade and investment opportunities and facilitation, and cross-border e-commerce cooperation, aiming to explore and discuss further scope for collaboration, organizers said.
Meanwhile, relevant departments organized a release ceremony for the Legal Guide to Investment in RCEP Member State — Indonesia and a launch ceremony for the "Be Together" Exchange Program for New Generation Entrepreneurs from China and Indonesia.
The Guangdong provincial government hosted the event.
