A severe traffic collision occurred in Quwo county, Shanxi province, on Sunday, claiming three lives and injuring a further six, according to the local authority's report released on Tuesday.

The heavy-duty semi-trailer truck driven by Li, a 42-year-old male, veered out of control and crashed off the Yuanpei road in Quwo, leading to the accident.

All injured individuals have been hospitalized and are receiving appropriate treatment. Their conditions are not life-threatening and are currently stable.

Following the incident, public security authorities launched an investigation. Tests ruled out suspicions the influence of alcohol or drugs driving by Li. Preliminary investigations indicate that distracted driving was the primary cause of the accident.

Li has already been detained by local authorities.
