PRAGUE - Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and visiting King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander held talks in Prague on Wednesday, focusing on economic and defense cooperation.

"The parties discussed the possibilities of further developing mutual economic ties, supporting joint industrial projects and strengthening cooperation in the field of the defense industry," the Czech government said in a statement, adding that both sides expressed interest in further deepening bilateral relations and continuing strategic dialogue.

According to the government, nearly 6,000 Czech companies currently engage in trade with the Netherlands.

"We have concrete opportunities to further strengthen our cooperation in a number of areas, especially in the economy and defense," said Fiala.

Earlier on Wednesday, King Willem-Alexander also met with Czech President Petr Pavel at Prague Castle.
