Bridge collapses in Russia's Kursk Oblast, derailing freight train

MOSCOW -- A bridge collapsed early Sunday in the Zheleznogorsk district of the Kursk Oblast, derailing a freight train and causing a subsequent fire, the region's Acting Governor Alexander Khinshtein said.

The collapse occurred at the 48 km mark of the Trosna-Kalinovka highway. Part of the train fell onto the road under the bridge, with the locomotive catching fire, Khinshtein said.

Emergency services are working on the scene, the governor said, adding that one of the locomotive drivers was injured.
