China Coast Guard said on Tuesday that it supervised the Philippines' resupply mission of daily provisions to the country's illegally grounded warship in Ren'ai Reef in the South China Sea on Friday.

Liu Dejun, the CCG spokesman, said in a statement that with the consent of the Chinese side, the Philippines dispatched a civilian vessel on Friday to deliver supplies to its illegally grounded warship at Ren'ai Reef.

The China Coast Guard monitored the entire process, verifying and supervising the Philippine vessel, he said.

The warship has been illegally grounded in the reef since 1999.

Liu expressed hope that the Philippines would honor its commitments and work with China to jointly manage the maritime situation.

The China Coast Guard will continue to conduct law enforcement activities to safeguard rights in the waters around the Nansha Islands, including Ren'ai Reef, in accordance with the law, he said.
