A fire broke out on the Chaobai River Bridge on Shunping Road in Beijing's Shunyi district on Wednesday morning, leaving the bridge partly damaged, according to the Beijing Commission of Transport, Xinhua News reported.

According to an announcement released by the commission's Weibo account at 10:55 am, the fire was extinguished without casualties or vehicle damage.

Local authorities swiftly implemented firefighting and traffic control efforts when the fire broke out, the commission said.

Access to the affected section near the bridge was closed in both directions, with traffic authorities closely managing the situation. Residents have been advised to rearrange their routes accordingly.

An eyewitness said that the bridge caught fire after smoke emerged at around 4:40 am, China National Radio reported.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
