Spanish PM to visit China, meet with President Xi
At the invitation of Premier Li Qiang, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will visit China on Thursday and Friday, the European leader's third visit to the country in three years.
President Xi Jinping will meet with Sanchez, and Premier Li will hold talks with the prime minister, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a daily news briefing.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Spain.
Spain is an important cooperation partner of China in the European Union, Lin said, adding that the two countries uphold the spirit of mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual benefit when developing bilateral relations, and that China-Spain relations are at the forefront of China's relations with European countries.
It is hoped that the two sides, taking this visit as an opportunity, will deepen strategic mutual trust, expand opening-up and cooperation, join hands to meet global challenges and push for the greater development of bilateral relations, he said.
Efforts urged to promote disciplinary inspection
China's top anti-graft official has called for efforts to promote high-quality disciplinary inspection to provide a strong guarantee for further advancing Chinese modernization.
Li Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and head of the central leading group on disciplinary inspection, made the remarks on Tuesday at a meeting on national disciplinary inspection work.
The meeting also marked the initiation of the fifth round of disciplinary inspection missions of the 20th CPC Central Committee. It made arrangements for this year's disciplinary inspection work, and outlined plans for inspections in provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
In his speech, Li emphasized thatdisciplinary inspection work is a strategic institutional arrangement of full, rigorous Party self-governance.
Also on Tuesday, a list of 22 targets of the fifth round of disciplinary inspection was announced.
