Former sports head sentenced to 10 years for bribery

Li Quanqiang, former head of the volleyball administrative center under the State General Administration of Sport, was sentenced to ten years and three months in prison for bribery, a court in Jiangsu province announced on Monday.
The verdict was announced by the Yangzhou Intermediate People's Court in Jiangsu, which also fined him 800,000 yuan ($109,404). The illegal gains from his bribery crimes were confiscated and turned over to the national treasury, the court said.
Public information showed that Li, 62, a native of Liaoning province, had worked for the country's sports bodies for about four decades, serving as the head of the volleyball administrative center from February 2017 to August 2022.
