3,000-year-old cemetery uncovered

Archaeologists working in the northern Italian province of Trentino have uncovered an ancient cemetery that they say could rewrite the history of the region. The cemetery, described as a "monumental necropolis from the pre-Roman era" in a news release from the government on Monday, was found in the city of Trento and contains around 200 tombs. The burial site lies approximately 8 meters below the current surface, beneath layers dating back to the Roman and medieval periods. According to the archaeologists, the site appears to date back to the 9th century BC.

31 killed after bus plunges into ravine

At least 31 people were killed and another 15 injured after a public transit bus plunged into a ravine along the highway connecting western Bolivia's departments of Potosi and Oruro on Monday. Preliminary police reports indicate that the bus driver lost control of the vehicle before it veered off the road and fell into an 800-meter-deep ravine on Monday. The stretch of road where the tragedy occurred has sharp curves and steep slopes that increase the risk of accidents.
