Annual session of Shanghai legislative body comes to end
The annual plenary session of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, the city's legislative body, concluded on Saturday.
Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, said the deputies fulfilled their roles by actively participating in deliberations during the session. They also exhibited the vitality and dynamism of the people's congress system, she said.
Addressing the deputies at the closing meeting, Huang urged them to focus on the city's key initiatives, such as building Shanghai into international centers in economy, finance, trade, shipping, and science and technology innovation, as well as high-level reform and opening-up, expanding domestic demand while stabilizing external demand, nurturing and developing new quality productive forces, and advancing urban development.
She encouraged the deputies to lead by example in their respective roles, take on responsibilities, and contribute actively to helping the city achieve its economic and social development goals.
During this year's session, the deputies' motions and suggestions mainly focused on aspects such as fulfilling major national strategic tasks, enhancing the quality and efficiency of economic development, and keep improving residents' quality of life.
