Shanxi official under investigation for violating discipline
A senior Shanxi province official has been placed under investigation, according to a statement from the country's top disciplinary watchdogs on Monday.
Wu Cunrong, chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, is being investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission for violating disciplines, the statement added.
Wu worked in Anhui province for years in various leading positions, including as mayor and Party secretary of Hefei. He then worked in Chongqing and served as the chairman of the CPPCC's Shanxi provincial committee from 2023 until the investigation was launched, according to public information.
