Guangzhou to host major intl conference
The 8th Understanding China Conference, themed "Carry Through the Reform to the End: Chinese Modernization and New Opportunities for World Development", will take place from Dec 2 to 4 in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. Hosted by the government of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong, the event is jointly organized by the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs and the Guangdong provincial government. The three-day event will feature an opening ceremony, keynote speeches, guest dialogues, six parallel workshops, 14 thematic forums and a series of supporting activities.
Modified variant of ZQ 2 rocket launched
LandSpace, a Beijing-headquartered private enterprise, made the first flight of a modified variant of its ZQ 2 methane-propelled carrier rocket on Wednesday, transporting two satellites into orbit. The ZQ 2E-Y1 rocket blasted off at 10 am from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China and deployed two experimental satellites into their preset orbit, according to a news release from LandSpace. According to LandSpace, the new variant is 47.3 meters tall and 3.35 meters wide. It has a liftoff weight of 219 metric tons and a launch thrust of 282 tons.
