China, US jointly recover $1.7 million in transnational fraud case
Law enforcement agencies in China and the United States recently collaborated to tackle a transnational telecommunications fraud, recovering more than $1.7 million for a company in Zhejiang province and its US partner, China's Ministry of Public Security said on Thursday.
The case was handled jointly by China's Ministry of Public Security and the US Department of Homeland Security, according to the ministry's statement. Both countries' law enforcement departments are continuing to investigate the case actively, it added.
With telecommunications fraud increasing globally, the ministry noted, these types of crimes pose common challenges across borders.
Chinese public security authorities remain committed to a strict, law-based approach to combatting transnational telecommunications fraud, and are deepening cooperation with law enforcement agencies in other countries, the ministry said.
