Liu Mancang, a former senior legislator from Henan province, is under investigation for suspected severe violations of the Party disciplines and national laws, China's top anti-corruption watchdogs said on Thursday.

The investigation has been announced by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision online, with no more details disclosed.

Public information shows that Liu, 69, a native of Henan, started his career in 1977 and joined the Party in 1981. He worked for his home province for decades.

After working for Shangqiu city for several years, Liu became vice-governor of the province in 2008.

In 2016, he became the deputy head of the standing committee of the Henan People's Congress, the provincial top legislature.
