Nationwide population sample survey launched

The National Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday that it will launch a nationwide population sample survey to help accurately monitor demographic changes and assist in implementing social and economic plans and population policies.
It is customary for the bureau to carry out such surveys around October and November each year.
This year, the survey will run from Oct 10 to Nov 30. Selected residents will be requested to file information regarding their age, gender, race, education level, job positions, marital and fertility status and housing conditions, the NBS said in a statement.
Government workers and survey personnel will be held accountable for any illegal acts during the survey while surveyed residents who obstruct official's work will likely be penalized by public security authorities.
The NBS is calling on all sectors of society to actively support and cooperate with the survey.
