The annual Yangcheng Lake hairy crab harvest began in Suzhou, Jiangsu province on Wednesday morning. Crabs from the lake are highly sought after for their rich roe and superior taste.
At 10:18 am, this season's first basket of hairy crabs was hauled ashore. More crabs are expected to hit the market after the National Day holiday.
In China, September and October mark crab season, with crab feasts being a traditional ritual, especially during Mid-Autumn Festival.
