With summer on, farmers across Lanxi, a county-level city of Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang Province, have been embracing a bountiful harvest of rice.

Xiafan Village, for example, is endowed with 1,000 mu (about 66.67 hectares) of fertile farmland and has reached an average rice yield of 500 kilograms per mu this year.

Shao Weihua, a local rice grower, said Xiafan has stepped up efforts to improve crop yields and quality over the past few years, making the village a major rice production area in the city.

Specifically, Shao said Xiafan has introduced a series of green technologies to control plant pests and diseases, such as ecological regulation and biological control.

As a result, the use of chemical pesticides has been reduced by more than 30 percent, and less than 5 percent of the village's rice production is lost to pests and diseases, marking a substantial improvement in the local agricultural ecosystem.

Shao also said electric farm equipment has been widely utilized in daily production, which has inevitably brought a surging demand for electricity.

Against this backdrop, the State Grid's Jinhua Power Supply Co has fulfilled its social responsibilities by carrying out special inspections on the transmission lines concerning agricultural production.

Efforts have also been made to inspect the grain drying and threshing machines, collect the farmers' requirements, and guide them to properly operate the harvesters to avoid accidental damage to the utility poles in the farmland.

According to the company, its workers have so far inspected the farm equipment of 11 rural households and eliminated 27 electrical hazards.

Aimed at better supporting agricultural production, the company said it will provide the farmers with round-the-clock services and prepare sufficient emergency vehicles and supplies.
