Upgraded Fuxing smart bullet train to debut this weekend


The latest upgrade of the Fuxing smart bullet train has a new type of luxury seats, more seats on the second-class coach, and spaces for both passengers and luggage and will make debut along the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway on Saturday, according to the national railway operator China State Railway Group on Friday.
The new bullet train, which belongs to the Fuxing bullet train family, has two formations—the one with 8 carriages and with 17 carriages. The new trains feature more seats in the second-class coach, expand passenger space to improve travelers' experiences and increase the space to store large luggage.
The bullet train with eight carriages is capable to accommodate up to 619 passengers, with an additional 38 second-class seats. The capacity has increased by about 7.5 percent.
The train with 17 carriages can carry up to 1,347 passengers, making a 5 percent increase, including an additional 61 second-class seats.
Notably, the new train with 17 carriages will introduce a new seating option, dubbed the "preferred first-class seat". It positions as a high-end seating option at a price point lower than business class yet higher than first class.
