Student detained on suspicion of the death of his roommate

Local police in Xiangtan, Hunan province has criminally detained a postgraduate student of Xiangtan University for being allegedly involved in the death of his roommate, according to a statement issued on Saturday.

The Xiangtan public security bureau has received reports that a postgraduate student, 25, surnamed Zhang has been poisoned.

He was sent to the hospital on April 7 and died of multiple organ failure on April 20.

The police found that his roommate surnamed Zhou is a major suspect on the case. They have detained him and the case is under further investigation.

The police also reminded the public to not spread rumors online.
