Xi replies to letter from elite police brigade
President Xi Jinping has replied to a letter from the Falcon Commando Unit, an elite police brigade, encouraging it to build a world-class counterterror special force.
In his reply letter, Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, recalled the moment 10 years ago when he presented the unit with its flag. In April 2014, Xi presented the flag and made important instructions.
Xi said he was delighted to learn that over the past decade, the members of the brigade have remained firmly committed to their original aspirations, conducted rigorous training and successfully fulfilled their missions.
He encouraged the unit to continue to strengthen loyalty, enhance combat-oriented training, carry forward the spirit of fearlessness and dedication, and make new contributions to the Party and the people.
Delegation led by top legislator to visit DPRK
Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, will lead a Party and government delegation to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on an official goodwill visit from Thursday to Saturday. The delegation will attend the opening ceremony of the China-DPRK Friendship Year.
The visit is at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Tuesday at a regular news briefing in Beijing.
Noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the DPRK, Mao said the visit demonstrates the deep friendship between the two countries and the high attention that China gives to bilateral ties.
Top political adviser meets with Vietnamese lawmaker
Wang Huning, China's top political adviser, underscored continued efforts to advance the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future during talks on Tuesday with Vuong Dinh Hue, chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly.
Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, emphasized the readiness of China's top political advisory body to work together with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee in promoting ties between the two parties and countries.
Vuong Dinh Hue stressed Vietnam's policy of prioritizing its relationship with China as the foremost and strategic choice, reiterating Vietnam's firm adherence to the one-China policy. Hanoi stands ready to work with Beijing to further enhance political mutual trust and advance pragmatic cooperation, he said.
Vice-president vows to boost cooperation with Singapore
China would like to work with Singapore to maintain close exchanges at all levels and enhance cooperation in science and technology innovation, Vice-President Han Zheng said on Tuesday while meeting with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat.
China stands ready to work with the Southeast Asian nation to make full use of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, jointly promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and conduct high-level cultural and people-to-people exchanges, Han said.
Heng said that Singapore-China cooperation has been fruitful and mutually beneficial. Singapore attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is willing to continue to expand cooperation with China, he added.
