Top court releases typical cases of crimes endangering public security

BEIJING -- China's Supreme People's Court on Tuesday released five typical cases of crimes that endanger public security.
The cases clarified the criteria for determining the crime of dangerous operation and the crime of endangering public security by dangerous methods such as throwing objects from a height.
In another case, the accused sabotaged oil and gas equipment in use in a bid to steal the commodities, but ended up causing a fire, constituting the crimes of damaging flammable and explosive equipment and theft at the same time.
The SPC ordered courts at all levels to continuously strengthen the research and summary of issues related to such crimes, and put forward judicial proposals in accordance with the law to assist relevant agencies fix loopholes and eliminate hidden security risks in a timely manner.
