Xi congratulates Senegal president-elect

President Xi Jinping congratulated on Thursday Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his election as Senegalese president.

In his congratulatory message, Xi hailed the two countries' deepening of political mutual trust since the establishment of diplomatic ties, saying that China and Senegal have achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation and closely coordinated with each other in international affairs.

Xi said he highly values developing China's relationship with Senegal and is ready to work with Faye to promote the continuous development of China-Senegal and China-Africa relations to better benefit the peoples.

Noting that both China and Senegal are co-chairs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Xi said that China will work with Senegal in solidarity to prepare for the summit of the forum to be held in China this year.

Top legislator meets with dignitaries in Boao

Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the country's top legislature, met separately with distinguished guests on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024 in Boao, Hainan province, on Thursday.

In talks with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, president of the Supreme Privy Council to the King of Cambodia, Zhao said that China is willing to maintain strategic communication with Cambodia, and deepen cooperation in various fields such as the economy, culture and youth activities.

Hun Sen said that Cambodia is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields to further promote the building of the Cambodia-China community with a shared future.

Speaking to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, Zhao said this year marks the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, and the two sides should further advance cooperation in various fields in the spirit of equality, and mutual trust, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.

Overchuk said that Russia is willing to work with China to fully implement the consensus of the two heads of state and deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields.
