Courier sector posts double-digit growth
China's express delivery or courier industry saw robust expansion last year, driven by a surge in demand as the economic recovery gained further momentum, said the State Post Bureau. Express courier firms nationwide handled 132.07 billion parcels in 2023, up more than 19 percent compared to the previous year. The sector raked in total revenue of around 1.2 trillion yuan ($170 billion) during the period, up more than 14 percent year-on-year, the bureau said.
Duty-free sales boost Sanya's foreign trade
The import and export value in the resort city of Sanya in South China's Hainan province surpassed 24 billion yuan ($3.4 billion) last year, up more than 13 percent, with duty-free goods playing a vital role, said Sanya Customs. In 2023, Sanya witnessed a 25.5 percent increase in the import of duty-free goods, totaling 10.76 billion yuan and constituting 44 percent of the city's overall import and export value.
