7 confirmed dead, 40 remain missing in Southwest China landslide

KUNMING -- Seven people have been located and confirmed dead as of 6:30 pm Monday, following a landslide in southwest China's Yunnan province, local authorities have said.
The landslide occurred in Liangshui village in the city of Zhaotong at about 6 am on Monday, with 47 people reported missing, according to the local disaster relief headquarters.
A total of 795 rescue workers equipped with one drone and 120 vehicles, including excavators, loaders and transport vehicles, are carrying out search and rescue work at the site.
A total of 213 residents have been evacuated to safer locations. More than 100 tents, 400 quilts, 200 cotton coats and 14 sets of emergency lighting equipment have also been provided.
