Egypt and China pledge increased cooperation

China stands ready to enhance alignment between its development strategies and those of Egypt, and to work with Egypt for more outcomes from their pragmatic cooperation, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during his meeting with Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday.
China firmly supports Egypt in opposing external interference, protecting its sovereignty, security, and development interests, and playing a more important role in international and regional affairs, Wang said.
Sisi reiterated that Egypt will always follow the one-China principle and oppose interference in China's internal affairs. Egypt hopes to build a closer partnership with China and expand cooperation in various fields, he said.
Wang said he appreciates Egypt's support of China's legitimate position, adding that China supports Sisi in leading the Egyptian people to take a development path that suits Egypt's conditions.
Both nations agreed to strengthen coordination within BRICS and the United Nations. They also discussed the Palestine-Israel conflict, and agreed that there should be an immediate cease-fire, to prevent further spillover of the conflict.
