Electrified production makes aroma of tofu spread afar

In the city of Taizhou, Zhejiang province, when it comes to tofu, foodies will instinctively think about "Baishuiyang tofu," which has been enjoyed by local residents for generations for its rich bean aroma, soft and tender texture, and unique "smoky flavor".

This year, the Baishuiyang tofu, produced in Baishuiyang township under the county-level city of Linhai, won the first prize of the Top 10 Tofu award in Zhejiang, becoming an internet hit in the food industry of the prefecture-level city of Taizhou.

Jin Chao, manager of Tianyi Food Co Ltd, which is a well-known local tofu processing plant, is busy nowadays as his company has introduced advanced equipment such as tofu grinding machines, boiling pots, and tofu forming machines this year, replacing manual labor with mechanical and electric power.

Unlike an ordinary family workshop, Tianyi Food can not only produce tens of thousands of kilograms of tofu per day, but also deliver them across China with one-day express.

The plant's achievements cannot progress without the help from the staff members of the State Grid Taizhou Electric Power Co, Jin said.

He told the visiting State Grid technicians, who came to check the safe use of electricity during peak period in winter and ensure the electricity supply, that the company is now fully confident after they helped adjust the wiring and offered instructions on electricity precautions.

In recent days, as the sales of Tianyi tofu are increasing tremendously, "we even wish to have the electric bean grinders working 24 hours a day," Jin said, noting that the safe electricity supply can allow them to increase production without any worries.

Currently, Tianyi Food has a production area of over 4,000 square meters with an annual processing capacity of over 2,000 metric tons of tofu, becoming a top enterprise in the local tofu industry in terms of production.

From the initial construction phase of the tofu processing plant to its current good and scaled-up operation, the employees of State Grid Taizhou Electric Power Co accompanied Tianyi Food throughout the whole process.

By relying on advanced electrification equipment and cold chain packaging technology, Tianyi Food has successfully sold its products across the country, letting the unique aroma of Baishuiyang tofu spread afar — even serving more international clients.

Tianyi Food has been engaged in Baishuiyang tofu processing over 10 years, JIn said.

According to Zhu Lu, a worker from State Grid Taizhou Electric Power Co, in the near future, the company will continue to provide more comprehensive electricity services for production enterprises in the region, regularly inspecting power-supply facilities of key enterprises, and ensuring that power-supply problems encountered during the production can be solved in a timely manner.

This will help escort more traditional enterprises producing products such as Baishuyang tofu to further expand their market through electrification means, she said.
