In a significant move, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has recently issued a revised set of regulations on the CPC's disciplinary action, emphasizing a commitment to enhancing the Party's capability for self-purification, improvement, reform, and excellence.

The revised regulations, comprising 158 articles in three parts, are slated to take effect from January 1, 2024.

The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee thoroughly reviewed the amended regulations during a meeting on Dec 8. This marks the fourth round of revisions since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, with previous amendments made in 2018, which became effective in October of the same year.

According to a circular from the CPC Central Committee, the primary focus of these revisions is to address unique challenges faced by a large political party and to enhance the overall governance of the Party comprehensively and strictly.

The new regulations adopt a stringent tone, blending problem-oriented and goal-focused approaches while aligning with contemporary needs to refine disciplinary norms. A key emphasis is placed on clarifying political discipline and rules, intensifying all aspects of discipline, signaling a commitment to progressively stricter discipline enforcement over time.

The circular issued by the CPC Central Committee underscores the earnest implementation of these regulations by all regions and departments. Discipline inspection commissions at all levels are mandated to diligently fulfill their responsibilities and rigorously enforce discipline. The directive highlights the importance of promptly reporting significant situations and suggestions related to the implementation of the regulations across various regions and departments to the CPC Central Committee.
