667 hectares of Qishan sweet potatoes harvested in Shandong
Nearly 667 hectares of "Qishan sweet potato" were harvested in October in Qishan township, an agriculture hub in Shandong province, after the local government made a big investment in an industrial upgrade to boost the local economy.
According to the Qishan government, the township has invested more than 4 million yuan ($557,783) to build the second-phase virus-free seedling breeding base and 5 million yuan to introduce deep processing production lines. Further efforts were also made to promote the brand of "Qishan sweet potato" and boost sales.
With government support, the quality and efficiency of sweet potato production were greatly enhanced, which also helped improve local residents' income.
Qishan government also said it has introduced training programs for local farmers, created a favorable environment for relevant businesses, and cooperated with agricultural scientific institutions in Shandong province, which has yielded fruitful results.
