The second Chinese Documentary Film Festival kicked off in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, on Thursday, with 32 documentaries collected for recommendations in four categories.
Screenings have taken place in Zhuhai, and new documentary films will be announced during the festival.
The Chinese documentary film market has recovered steadily this year, although it remains relatively flat compared with the market for other films, according to a report released during the festival.
Promotional and filming techniques used for feature films are now being employed in the making and marketing of documentaries.
Cross-media screenings will continue to help promote documentary films, the report said.
