Basketball grandma shows age is just a number

Passersby in Zibo, Shandong province, are often amazed by the sight of a 77-year-old woman playing basketball with great agility and skills.

Li Xiurong, who has a passion for the sport that began over a decade ago, is a regular sight on the basketball court in her community. She spends at least two hours every day playing the game.

Li's interest in basketball began when her grandson developed an interest in the sport. Wanting to keep him company, she decided to give it a try. She quickly fell in love with the game, and even though her grandson has grown up and moved on, Li continues to play on the same court.

"At first, I played basketball to bond with my grandson," Li said. "But now that they have grown up, I found that it became part of my life."

Li's dedication to basketball has made her a beloved figure in the local community.

Basketball has kept Li physically fit, but it has also provided her with immeasurable happiness and a sense of purpose. She believes that the sport has helped her maintain a youthful mindset and enjoy a healthier and more fulfilled life.

Li can score eight out of 10 shots, and her dribbling and shooting skills have earned the respect and admiration of many local residents and younger basketball players.

"Many asked me if I was a professional basketball player when I was young," Li said in an interview.
