Despite market adjustment in the past few years, China remains the world's largest infant formula market and Arla Foods is set to make this special segment the largest contributor to its China business in the coming years, said a senior executive of the Denmark-based company at the sidelines of the ongoing 6th China International Import Expo.

"Although the Chinese infant formula market has passed the high growth period, it is still extremely attractive and we take it as the key of our development strategy," said Cheng Yue, vice-president and head of China with Arla Foods, the world's largest organic dairy producer.

According to Cheng, China is still the world's largest infant formula market, with an estimated market scale of 100 billion yuan.

This is the sixth time for the company to take part in the CIIE. This year, Arla Foods brought with it full-category core brands including two products debuting in the Chinese market.

"We are very pleased to attend the CIIE for the sixth consecutive year. The Chinese market has great potential and is a vital part of our global growth strategy," said Simon Stevens, executive vice-president of Arla Foods International.

"At CIIE, a high-quality open window and display platform, we can proudly share Arla's products and sustainable development concept with Chinese consumers and partners. Meanwhile, we can better understand the need and preference of local consumers, and better expand our business here so as to bring natural, environmentally friendly, safe and healthy products to Chinese consumers," Stevens said.

Cheng said they are confident about the future development of the company in China considering its market size and consumption potential.

"We will continue to consolidate our core advantages, reserve our competitiveness and constantly explore new models and new products in the local market. We stay firmly committed to the Chinese market and will fully promote our business in China," said Cheng.
