CEIBS holds pharma industry summit

Hundreds of pharmaceutical industry professionals, including more than 10 industry leaders and prominent guests, participated in a healthcare leadership summit titled "Three Decades of Thriving" held at the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai on Thursday.
The summit focused on the development of China's medical industry and trends in talent and leadership and provided a platform for participants to discuss the future of the country's medical industry.
Song Ruilin, executive chairman of the China Pharmaceutical Innovation and Research Development Association, James Deng, global senior vice-president of US-based global medical technology company BD and BD Greater China region general manager, and Leon Wang, executive vice-president of AstraZeneca and international and China president of the company, delivered keynote speeches during the event.
Wang said this year marks the 30th anniversary of AstraZeneca's entry into China and that the company has been constantly working with partners at home and abroad to expand the overseas influence of China's medical innovation.
"In the future, the company will continue to adhere to the dual-cycle development of domestic and international business and actively play the role of a bridge between the East and the West. It'll move from 'in China for China' to 'in China for the world', creating an open and cooperative global ecology and making China's medical care benefit the world," he said.
Pavlos Kontomichalos, founder and CEO of Hellas Group, said that the overall development and growth of China's healthcare industry has reached a new level where continuous breakthroughs are being made in industrial innovation.
"In addition, the increasingly open industry co-operation trend has attracted more multinational pharmaceutical companies to invest in a diversified manner in China, contributing to the improvement of the global strength of China's healthcare industry," he said.
Dozens of industry-leading biomedical and medical device companies announced the establishment of an alliance for healthcare industry digital transformation, which will promote wider collaboration and innovation and bolster the digital and smart transformation of the healthcare industry.
