'Floral Whisper' cultural exchange events to kick off
A series of events entitled "Floral Whisper" will be launched on Thursday to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation in Singapore, Malacca in Malaysia and Cirebon in Indonesia.
They will include exhibitions, performances and seminars on Maritime Silk Road culture and cultural heritage preservation, said Liu Xiaoming, deputy director of the Guangzhou bureau of culture, radio, television and tourism, at a ceremony on Monday.
In 2018, Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, initiated an alliance with Nanjing, Jiangsu province and Ningbo, Zhejiang province for the cross-country application to include the Maritime Silk Road in the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Site list. The alliance now has 34 Chinese cities.
The "Floral Whisper" events were initiated in 2018 and have been staged in a number of countries.
