Five charged with failure to report after safety accident led to four dead

Five people have been placed under criminal detention on a charge of failing to report or falsely reporting safety accidents which led to 4 deaths and 48 missing during rainstorms in Sichuan province, according to press conference in Jinyang county, Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture in Sichuan province on Wednesday.
Enquiry reveals that five people in charge of site construction safety and on duty didn't evacuate workers after receiving heavy rain alerts. Currently, the public security organs are conducting case investigations, and the search and rescue work is still underway.
On August 21, the torrent, triggered by heavy rain, hit a construction site in Dengchang village of Jinyang county at midnight. Investigation shows that 201 workers were on the site. 149 of them escaped danger, leaving 4 dead and 48 missing, Chuanguan News reported.
After the disaster, local government organized more than 500 emergency, fire, medical, public security and township government personnel to conduct search and rescue work.
