Publishing house unveils new history series
A book series about regional and country history by Shanghai-based Orient Publishing Center was presented at the ongoing annual Shanghai Book Fair on Aug 19.
The new series includes 10 books regarding the history of Europe, Spain, Portugal, India, Singapore, Australia, the world, Argentina, the Pacific, and the Atlantic.
The series is based on a comprehensive historical overview and related bibliographic review at multiple levels and aims to stimulate the interest of readers in foreign historical and cultural heritages, according to the publishing center.
The series serves to compensate for the shortcomings of textbooks, general research works, movie and television works, and other knowledge channels, and can provide the public with popular, authentic, and comprehensive knowledge of the world history, according to the publishing center.
Some experts have suggested at the presentation that the publishing house includes more works by authors from outside Western countries so that the perspectives will be more balanced and not overly Western-oriented.
