Seven major automakers, including General Motors, BMW and Honda, announced Wednesday that they will join forces to form a joint venture to build a large, fast-charging network for electric vehicles in North America to drive the adoption of EVs. The companies say they will collectively invest billions of dollars by 2030 to build at least 30,000 high-power plugs in North American cities and along highways that can charge a battery to 80 percent capacity in about 30 minutes.
