Accidental shooting claims gun club instructor's life

A man was accidentally shot and killed while training a client at a shooting club in Yueyang, Hunan province, local police reported on Wednesday.
The client, surnamed Liu, visited the club on Saturday with three companions. The club worker, surnamed Du, offered Liu instruction when the gun discharged by accident. The club staff promptly sent Du to hospital for treatment, who died on Monday despite rescue efforts.
Police and emergency management workers rushed to the site immediately to conduct an investigation and provide treatment.
Liu has been placed under criminal detention by the bureau for suspected negligent homicide, as well as the club's juridical person Li for negligently causing a serious accident. The case is under further investigation.
The club received approval for operations in November 2019 and officially opened for business in May 2021 with all necessary approvals and licenses.
Police asked netizens not to believe or spread rumors, respect the deceased and their families and refrain from sharing videos and images of the incident.
