An analysis of US Census data showed that older Americans are hit hardest by high inflation, with increasing difficulty meeting their household expenses. The share of people age 55-64 who said they had difficulty paying their bills in the last seven days rose eight percentage points in late April to early May versus a year ago. Thirty percent of people over 65 are experiencing financial difficulties, up 7 percent from a year ago.
