Big conference in Guangdong informs overseas Chinese
The 2023 Overseas Chinese Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Conference kicked off in Jiangmen, a Pearl River Delta city in Guangdong province, on Wednesday, creating a platform for overseas Chinese to better understand the economic construction and development of the country and the GBA.
More than 700 people from around the world attend the three-day event which also included parallel forums and special seminars.
Organizers are expecting the large number of overseas Chinese working and living around the world to play a role in accelerating the construction of the GBA and help it attract more foreign talent, capital and technology in the months to come.
Organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Guangdong provincial government, the event is expected to serve as a bridge to help people understand the region.
Sub-conferences are being staged in a dozen of countries and regions around the world. Located in the western part of the prosperous Pearl River Delta, Jiangmen is a major connection for Chinese people overseas, with more than 5.3 million natives in more than 180 nations and regions. It is estimated that more than 20 million Chinese people are scattered around the world.
