China willing to work with Russia on global security, stability

China is willing to work with Russia to make new contributions to maintaining world and regional security and stability,State Councilor and Defense Minister Li Shangfu said on Sunday while meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

During the meeting, Putin asked Li to convey sincere greetings and good wishes to President Xi Jinping, who visited Russia last month.

Putin said President Xi's recent visit to Russia achieved fruitful results and they have made plans for the development of Russia-China relations in the new era and agreed to further strengthen the two countries' strategic cooperation and deepen practical cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, and other areas.

Military cooperation between Russia and China holds an important position in the bilateral relationship, Putin said,adding that he expected the two militaries will strengthen collaboration in joint training, professional exchanges and other areas to continuously deepen strategic mutual trust.

Li conveyed President Xi's warm greetings and good wishes to Putin as well. Li said the heads of the two countries have steered the course for the development of China-Russia relations.

The comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between the two countries is continuously deepening and mutual trust between the two countries' militaries is increasing, resulting in fruitful cooperation,said Li who will end his Russia visit on Wednesday.

China is willing to work with Russia to fully implement the consensus of the two leaders, further enhance strategic communication between the two militaries and strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation, Li said.
