In Ningxia, winemaker finds a secret: the river
Maria Terresa Romero Ponce, a Chilean winemaker, said wine brewed with the waters of the Yellow River has a delicate, soft and delicious taste. That's why she was attracted to Helan Mountain in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region and decided to settle down there to develop her career.
Ponce once worked in the wine-producing areas of Chile, the United States and Germany. She visited Ningxia for the first time in 2017 and found that wine brewed near the Yellow River was special.
She said that without the river, the company would not be able to produce such amazing wine. She visited museums to learn more about the river, such as its history, culture and how ancient Chinese people dug irrigation ditches to move water to the vineyards.
She added that she wants to continue learning the local customs to better understand every element of the land — and to produce excellent wine.
