Yicai releases top 20 Chinese cities in foreign trade
Financial media outlet Yicai released rankings of the top 20 Chinese cities in terms of foreign trade based on data from the General Administration of Customs in the first two months.
Among these 20 cities in terms of import and export, more than a half of these cities are located in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions, and three cities in the central and western regions including Chengdu, Zhengzhou and Chongqing.
Shanghai took the top spot in the ranking of import and export term with the figure up 0.7 percent from a year earlier. Beijing's import and export figure increased 8.9 percent year-on-year - which surpassed Shenzhen to take the second spot, followed by Shenzhen, Suzhou, Ningbo, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Qingdao, Tianjin and Chengdu.
Zhengzhou took the 12th spot with their import and export figure jumping 18.2 percent, followed by Jinhua, Foshan, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Wuxi, Nanjing, Dalian and Yantai.
In terms of export ranking, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Suzhou were listed in the top 3.
Changsha, Fuzhou, Beijing and Zhengzhou showed rapid growth in export, with increases of 45.1 percent, 41 percent, 38.7 percent and 35.4 percent year-on-year, respectively.
In terms of import ranking, seven cities showed positive growth, with Xiamen holding the biggest increase.
Beijing imported most among the top 20 cities, with its imports accounting for more than 61 percent of its foreign trade scale in the first two months.
