Consumer goods imports reach $280b
China imported consumer goods worth 1.93 trillion yuan ($280 billion) in 2022, accounting for 11 percent of total imports and more than double the level seen in 2012. Last year, the value of imports through cross-border e-commerce reached 560 billion yuan, up nearly 5 percent, the Ministry of Commerce said on Monday. The upcoming Third China International Consumer Products Expo, to be held from April 10 to 15 in Haikou, Hainan province, will serve as China's first significant international expo this year after the country's prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic entered a more stable period, the ministry said.
Lottery sales surge 86% to $6b in Feb
China's lottery ticket sales reached 41.81 billion yuan ($6.08 billion) in February, up 86 percent year-on-year, data from the Ministry of Finance showed. Sales of lottery tickets to support the welfare system came in at 13.53 billion yuan in February, an increase of 44 percent from a year ago. Lottery tickets sold to support the sports industry rose by 116 percent year-on-year to more than 28 billion yuan.
