Daxing eyes more international routes as travel normalizes

Beijing Daxing International Airport is expecting to open more international routes after the airport resumed international flights last month.
On Thursday a flight operated by Aeroflot-Russian Airlines arrived at Daxing from Moscow, Russia, beginning a new route schedule where three round trips will be operated every week.
Daxing will also open flight routes between Beijing and Istanbul, and from the Chinese capital to Hong Kong.
With the new season for the civil aviation sector approaching, which begins on March 26, more international flights will be opened from Daxing to countries and regions in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, such as Amsterdam, Macao and Doha.
The airport resumed international flights on Jan 17. China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Capital Airlines and Himalaya Airlines resumed flights to places including the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Kathmandu in Nepal, Male in Maldives and Bangkok.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the airport suspended international flights on March 14, 2020, leaving all international flights to and from the capital for Beijing Capital International Airport.
Daxing airport opened in September 2019 to relieve the flight pressure from the city's other airport.
