The People's Liberation Army's Eastern Theater Command said on Friday that every movement made by a United States warship as it passed through the Taiwan Straits on Thursday was monitored and kept under control.
Senior Colonel Shi Yi, a spokesman of the Eastern Theater Command, said in a brief statement on Friday that the USS Chung-Hoon, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, sailed through the Taiwan Straits and publicly sensationalized its passage.
Forces from the Eastern Theater Command monitored the entire passage and stayed on alert, keeping every movement of the destroyer under control, Shi said.
